Whiteville Correctional Facility Release Paths
Whiteville Correctional Facility is a Tennessee state prison in Hardeman County. It is not the Hardeman County jail. CoreCivic manages the prison under Tennessee correctional authority, and the Tennessee Department of Correction controls the public offender and release-record path. The Hardeman County Sheriff's Office month-to-date booking PDF does not track Whiteville Correctional Facility releases.
A person may leave Whiteville Correctional Facility at sentence expiration, on parole, under another form of community supervision, to a detainer, or by transfer to a different institution. Parole is conditional release into the community before sentence expiration after Board action and final TDOC processing. A detainer asks that another authority receive or hold the person. Neither a detainer transfer nor a move to another prison is release to the community.
The prison's location does not determine where a person lives or reports after release. A parole plan must be approved, and supervision normally follows the approved residence. Someone leaving Whiteville may therefore report to a TDOC field office outside Hardeman County. An actual release record, FOIL status, and assigned supervision office form the most reliable chain.
Confirm Whiteville Correctional Facility Releases
The TDOC Felony Offender Information Lookup, known as FOIL, is the public person-level starting point. It covers felony offenders who are currently or were formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. The system may show a photograph, status, location, offenses, sentence information, parole-hearing status, and release information. Status examples include incarcerated, probation, parole, and inactive.
- Open FOIL and complete its CAPTCHA. Search by the most precise name or TOMIS identifier available.
- Compare all displayed identifiers before selecting a result. A shared name alone is not a safe match.
- Read status and location together. Incarcerated is not released, while parole or probation usually indicates community supervision when the full record agrees.
- Keep release information separate from sentence information and Release Eligibility Date. Record the access date because the status can change.
- When the exact event matters, obtain the TDOC release authorization, certificate, or archived release record.
Inactive is a useful post-state-custody clue, but it should be read beside the release and sentence details. It does not prove that the person never entered another custody system after the recorded TDOC event. A parole status is strong evidence of community supervision, yet the actual prison departure date still comes from TDOC's completed release documentation.
The Hardeman County released-inmate search explains how the state path differs from the county jail, court, federal, and immigration paths.
Whiteville Correctional Facility Release Dates
Three Tennessee dates must remain distinct. Release Eligibility Date, or RED, is a legal threshold for a possible release mechanism such as parole consideration. Sentence expiration is the computed end of the sentence. Actual release date is the completed physical departure recorded by TDOC. A person can reach RED and remain incarcerated after parole is denied or deferred. Even a parole grant may be followed by programs, plan approval, a certificate, and final processing.
- Release Eligibility Date
- The calculated point at which a release mechanism may become available under the sentence law.
- Sentence expiration
- The end of the imposed sentence after TDOC applies the governing judgment, law, and credits.
- Actual release date
- The completed departure event documented by TDOC.
- Parole grant
- A Board decision that still requires an approved release plan and any stated conditions before departure.
Sentence credits can change eligibility, and some losses can extend RED by the removed amount. Offense date, the judgment, sentence length, consecutive or concurrent terms, pre-sentence credit, discipline, detainers, and Board action can all matter. For some offenses committed on or after July 1, 2024, credits may move parole eligibility without shortening sentence expiration. A public date should never be converted into a claim that release occurred.
Note: Check FOIL again after an expected date, then seek the release record if the person still appears incarcerated.

The TDOC Whiteville Correctional Facility page is also the source for the successful facility capture.
The capture confirms the state-prison identity and directs release questions into TDOC systems. The facility telephone can address current institutional contact procedures, but TDOC's central sentence and release records control the public status and final event documentation.
Whiteville Correctional Facility Release Requests
When FOIL does not supply enough detail, use the TDOC archived-record request. Identify the offender by full name, TOMIS number, and date of birth when known. TDOC also asks for requester contact information, a reason, and a detailed description of the records. A narrow request is more useful than asking for every file connected to the person.
Ask for the actual release date, release type, release authorization or certificate, sentence-expiration information, status at release, and any receiving detainer agency. If the issue is a calculation, distinguish the sentence computation from the completed release event. TDOC says archive-search charges may apply. It tells requesters not to prepay because the agency will provide notice.
Written requests may be addressed to TDOC Records Management, Rachel Jackson Building, 2nd Floor, 320 6th Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37243-0465. Archived-record questions go to 615-253-8079. Residence details may be limited, and protected information may be withheld. The request should focus on the event and authority needed for release verification.
Note: TDOC controls archive charges; wait for its notice before sending payment or assuming that a search fee applies.
Whiteville Correctional Facility VINE Alerts
Tennessee VINE coverage for TDOC is verified. VINELink can be searched person by person, and TDOC says registrations may use phone, email, text, or TTY. Select Tennessee, enter the name or offender ID, inspect the identifiers and reporting agency, and open the right record. Then choose an available notification method and complete the live verification prompt.
A VINE alert can report a custody-status change, location or transfer, release, sentence expiration, or parole-eligibility information within the participating system. The wording matters. A transfer alert does not establish release to the community. A release alert is valuable time-sensitive evidence, but TDOC documentation remains the source for release type, authority, and exact destination when those facts are needed.
The VINE operator is available at 888-868-4631. Registration is free and confidential according to TDOC. Never publish a subscriber's PIN, contact method, or alert history. Registration should occur before the expected event because VINE is a notification service, not a permanent archive of every past Whiteville release.
Whiteville's Time-Building Prison Role
TDOC describes Whiteville Correctional Facility as a minimum-to-medium security “time-building prison” managed by CoreCivic. That phrase gives institutional context. It does not promise that a public release date is fixed, and it does not create a local Whiteville release list. Programs include pre-release counseling, but participation does not by itself prove a date or completed release.
Private management also does not remove prisoners from Tennessee's sentence framework. TDOC remains the state authority for FOIL status, release documentation, sentence calculations, VINE participation, and community supervision. The operator's name should not lead a searcher toward the sheriff's county report. Whiteville Correctional Facility and nearby Hardeman County Correctional Facility are both state-system prisons even though one includes the county name.
“Time-building” should not be used as a shortcut calculation from admission. Pre-sentence credit, earned credit, offense date, eligibility percentage, concurrent or consecutive sentences, disciplinary losses, detainers, Board action, and release-plan approval can affect the record. TDOC Sentence Information and the judgment are the right sources when an expected date is disputed.
Whiteville Correctional Facility Release Supervision
Parole, probation, determinate release, community corrections, and mandatory reentry supervision are not unconditional discharge. A person can be outside Whiteville Correctional Facility while remaining under TDOC supervision. FOIL may show parole or probation. The assigned office can then confirm the public supervision route without disclosing a private schedule or residence detail.
Hardeman County falls within TDOC Community Supervision District 60, which serves several West Tennessee counties. The official TDOC field-office directory lists district locations in Jackson, Somerville, and Covington. Call the directory-listed office before travel because the approved residence and case assignment determine the reporting site. The fact that confinement occurred in Whiteville does not establish that supervision will occur in Hardeman County.
Mandatory reentry supervision under Tenn. Code Ann. § 40-35-506 applies to covered felony offenses committed on or after July 1, 2021, subject to statutory criteria and exclusions. Sentence expiration and discharge still must be read from the person's controlling record. When community supervision appears, the assigned TDOC office is the proper route for current public confirmation.
Note: An approved residence and assigned office, not the prison's county, determine where community reporting occurs.
